We hope everyone has had a wonderful summer. It is September, and as we are approach the start of school, here are a few things to know:
FALL SCHEDULE Our Fall schedule of classes can be found below. The schedule takes effect on Sept. 6th!
** The schedule remains essentially the same; there is a minor change on Wednesdays for our kids and adult Karate students. Kids Karate on Wednesday is at 4:30, and Kobudo is at 5:30. We’ve made this change so that our teen and adult karate students who want to can come to the kobudo class. Kobudo will be a mixed age-level class. Wednesdays: 4:30 – Kids karate 5:30 – Kobudo (all ages, Yellow belt & above) 6:30 – Adult/ Advanced Karate
FEE INCREASE Earlier this summer we sent a letter announcing a fee increase this Fall. Because we were closed for two weeks in August, we have delayed this increase for current members until OCTOBER.
Please reach out to us with any concerns or questions about this.
MEMBERSHIP HOLDS / ReStarting your account If your membership is currently on HOLD, you may stop by the front desk or send us an email to reactivate it when you return. We will not reactivate any membership payments until we hear from you!
We hope everyone has had a wonderful, fun and healthy summer!
Memorial Day Weekend JPMAA will be CLOSED from Saturday, May 28 through Monday May 30 for Memorial Day Weekend. As always, you are welcome to make up any classes missed.
Kids Martial Arts mini-camps in July We are still enrolling for our Kids Martial Arts mini-camps in July. Please see the flyer below.
We will be OPEN this coming Saturday, October 9, but we will be CLOSED on Monday, October 11 in honor of Indigenous People’s Day.

Below is our Fall schedule of classes. This schedule will begin on September 7, the Tuesday after Labor Day. The schedule is largely the same, with some slight modifications:
* Kids Karate Classes will continue to be offered 5 days per week. Due to our capacity and scheduling needs, we are still asking families to sign up children for specific classes during the week. To sign up your child for a class, please email us and we will send you a confirmation.
* Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: We are adding a Competition Class on Wednesdays at 6:30. This class is open to Blue Belts and higher; White belts by permission of the instructor. You may attend this class even if you do not intend to compete.
Please note the following adjustments to our Summer Schedule:
KIDS CLASSES: We have adjusted the Kids class schedule, as many kids go away or attend summer camp, and our classes tend to be smaller. Please note:
Monday: Karate: We have combined both Kids karate sessions into one session at 5:30. Kobudo: There will be no kobudo class on Mondays.
Wednesday Karate: Again, both Kids Karate sessions have been combined into one class at 5:30. Kobudo: Kobudo class for kids at 6:30. All kids that have been attending Kobudo class on Mondays are welcome to attend this class.
ADULT/TEENS Brazilian Jiu Jitsu We have added a BJJ Fundamentals class on Mondays at 6:30.
PLEASE NOTE: We will be CLOSED from Saturday, July 3 through Monday July 5 for the Fourth of July Holiday weekend.
Our Summer Schedule of classes will begin on Tuesday, July 6.
Although the CDC has updated their mask guidelines, we are still following all of our health & safety protocols for the time being, as not everyone has had an opportunity to be vaccinated.
This means we ask everyone to please remember to:
Sign the Covid Health waiver for each class (available online HERE)
Please check in at the front desk as you enter so we may scan your temperature
Wear your mask
ALSO BEGINNING IN JUNE: We are pleased to be able to welcome a limited number of parents / spectators back into the dojo (especially for kids classes!) We must still limit the numbers.
KIDS CLASSES:
DROP OFF AND PICK UP: Parents, Please come to the door to check in as you drop your child off and pick them up; this helps us ensure they are prepared for class (daily waiver signed, mask, uniform)
* for safety we always have kids wait inside the dojo until parents arrive to pick them up * if your child lives nearby and has your permission to arrive and leave independently, please let us know in advance.
CLEAN FEET: As the weather gets warmer, we understand that kids wear different shoes and have many more outdoor activities, and little feet get dirty! Parents, please ensure that your child’s feet are clean before coming into the dojo.
UNIFORMS: We understand that schedules are busy and sometimes kids forget their uniforms. We do have extra uniforms and belts in case it is needed. Please note that there is a $5 laundry fee for a borrowed uniform.
WATER: Kids get thirsty during class, and we do have breaks for water. If your child forgets to bring water or asks for water during class, we will provide them with a bottle of water. Water is $1/bottle – we have a red can on the front desk for water $. Thank you!
As always, we are grateful to our entire JPMAA community for your continued support. As more people are vaccinated and restrictions are relaxed, more of our previous members are returning, and we continue to welcome new members into both our Karate and BJJ programs.
